American Leather® Expansion Highlights Continued Success

American Leather®, a Dallas, Texas-based industry leader in made-to-order luxury furniture, held a groundbreaking ceremony on May 5, kicking off a major expansion of its manufacturing capacity that will bring more than 200 new jobs to Dallas over the next three to five years. American Leather Co-Founder and Chairman Bob Duncan believes that the expansion is a symbol of American Leather’s continued success.

“Building expansions are an exciting milestone for a company. They represent a permanent physical example of the growth of a business. Things like sales records or anniversaries are certainly important milestones, but it’s just not the same as a new physical building, where you can see and live the larger business every day,” said Duncan.

American Leather started as a small business in a borrowed facility in 1990 and has grown to almost 600 employees, headquartered in a state-of-the art 250,000-square-foot factory in Dallas, Texas. The expansion will add an additional 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space.

“This is our first major expansion since we originally built our facility in 2004. It represents an almost 50% increase in our manufacturing space and will give American Leather the ability to efficiently continue to grow our business for many years to come. It’s a truly exciting accomplishment,” Duncan stated.

American Leather continues to maintain 100 percent of its employment in the U.S. — even as many in the industry turn to offshore manufacturing. Recognized as an industry leader in innovation, American Leather delivers high-quality, made-to-order furniture in three weeks or less to its retailers — a delivery standard far better than the industry average.
